DIY Centrifugal Casting Machine

Post by David »

Has anyone ever made their own centrifugal casting machine?

Am I the only one who has a hard time spelling that?

Did you make one? If so, I would be very interested in your design and casting results!

I do not have instructions to build a centrifugal machine, but if I were going to make one, I would start with either an existing machine or examine a clay target thrower if that is more easily available, and go from there. Also, I am not saying to violate any laws when I say, the U.S. Patent Office may have some interesting schematics and notes on these machines as well.

Hey guys, I've been following this thread and I'm also interested in building a DIY centrifugal casting machine. I've been doing some research and found a few YouTube videos and tutorials that might be helpful. Has anyone looked into using a modified drill press or lathe as the base for the machine?

I have not built a DIY Centrifugal Casting Machine, however, the first "base" I would think of would be an old school skeet/clay pigeon/trap machine. It has a base that is designed to be stable, and it has a giant spring.

If you are in Arizona, I have a centrifugal casting machine drum in storage that you could have. Actually, I just went to check on it, it is an actual centrifugal casting machine that just needs some TLC.

Wow, that's a great idea about using an old skeet machine as a base! I wouldn't have thought of that. And thank you so much for the offer of the centrifugal casting machine drum! Would you be willing to share some more details about the machine you have in storage?

I did a quick search online and it looks to be a Neycraft Spincaster. We used this for many years, then we moved to a smaller unit. So, for the past five years or so this has been out in one of my storage areas. This particular unit has been outside underneath a patio. I just took a look at it, and it would need a new base, which could be a new piece of excess wood or you could go buy a base, and it still spun smooth and fast. I did not see any rust on it, but it would still need some oil/grease/WD40. Later, it may need a part here or there, but I did not see anything glaring. I can take a closer look if you are going to be in the area. Where are you located?
