Laser engraving

Hi, Is anyone doing laser engraving on 14-18 Karat gold? I just got a xTool F2 Ultra mopa machine and have done okay for basic engraving but I want to do more deep embossing like family crest types of engraving. Maybe in combination with CAD modeling in advance just to take out a bunch of burning of metal. I've been doing CAD for the best part of 20 years (still a rookie, I know). I think with some combinations this tech stuff brings huge potential. Scanning, CAD, printing, casting, finish and engraving for detail might just be the most delightful processes in jewelry!

Greetings.

Have you gone through some of the posts in the xTool F1 Series forum?[1]

That forum will most likely have some answers for you. However, do keep in mind that the F1 Ultra is a 20W Fiber Laser, 20W Diode Laser, and the F2 Ultra is a 60W MOPA Fiber Laser, 40W Diode Laser. This will require some adjustments when using F1 Ultra settings on a F2 Ultra.[2]

For testing purposes I took various gold pieces and experimented engraving text and images. Now, I have it down fairly well, but am always refining my settings.

I would be very interested to learn what works for you.
