What is the STL UUID of when using Jewel3D & Thunk3D

What is the STL UUID of when using Jewel3D & Thunk3D

I noticed my STL files all have a UUID as part of their metadata. How is this UUID generated? Is this ID unique to the file, the computer, the scanning machine, something else?
