This saved me a few days ago as well. I had forgotten about it but one of our Jewelers reminded me about this post. I went through the instructions and the software started operating as it should.

One caveat to laser engraving pewter, wood, and other materials is to be sure to remove the background if it is just a solid color. Another way to say this is to use images with a transparent background.

I’ve used my F1 Ultra to engrave 0.5 mm deep (and probably deeper) in sterling and fine silver. Rather than the Engrave process which limits the number of passes to ten I will use a .png with my design in black on a transparent background and go with Emboss—my go-to settings for silver and brass ...

The settings available for a flat object and for a round object being held by a rotary are different. Different enough to make this a challenge. I am currently testing different settings.

This is for the xTool F1 Ultra.

The following settings are for a 1.3mm brass plate, using an SVG image file. Once this has been laser engraved the engraved/etched template can be used to hand engrave the plate.
